Hill City West and Northstate Church are coming together to form a new church in West Boise: Evergreen Church. We believe we are better and stronger together. We’re excited to follow God’s lead and see people come alive in Jesus as they become disciples who follow Jesus with everything.
Make disciples who follow Jesus with everything.
Jesus calls us to follow Him with everything because He gave everything for us. As we consistently encounter the gospel message, we will continue to surrender more and more of our lives to Christ. When we say everything, we mean everything. Each of our lives is a response to what God has already done for us in the gospel.
Our values are the things we really care about. These aren’t simply words on a website, but we live these values out as part of our church culture.
“For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”
- Matthew 12:50
Christ created the church to be a family of believers. We want to intentionally build community with one another on Sundays and throughout the rest of the week. We will show grace and reconcile when we have conflict. We believe that we are better together.
“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace”
- 1 Peter 4:10
We believe that ministry is not just for the church staff, but that all believers have an important role to play in the church. God has good works in mind that each person is uniquely gifted to accomplish. We want to help people find their place to serve and lead in God’s Kingdom.
“You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.”
- 2 Corinthians 9:11
Every gift that we have comes from God. We want to be good managers of what God has entrusted us with. This means sharing with those in need and generously giving to the work of God’s Kingdom.
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
- 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
We believe in depending on God at all times in prayer. Talking to God is a first response, not a last resort. We trust Him to lead us through life as He provides for us along the way.
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”
- 2 Timothy 3:16-17
One of the main ways that God communicates with us is through His Word. We unleash the transformative power of the Bible by allowing it to become deeply rooted within us. In order to accomplish this, we will diligently read, study, meditate, memorize, and learn from the Bible.
“For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
- Galatians 5:14
We want to help people come to know Jesus and what He has done for them. This takes being active and present in the neighborhood in which God has placed us. We will know the Gospel message in our lives and share it with people as God gives opportunity.
We invite you to explore our beliefs and join us in living out our faith in Jesus. At Evergreen, we seek unity in essentials and recognize freedom on secondary doctrines.
We believe that God is the CREATOR of the Universe.
He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are coequal and are one God.
We believe that Jesus Christ is God’s Son.
I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.
-Ephesians 1:18-21
We believe the Holy Spirit is coequal with the Father and the Son.
The Holy Spirit:
We believe people are made in the image of God, but our sin causes a separation from God and brokenness in human relationships.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
-Genesis 1:27
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
-Romans 3:23-24
We believe that the Bible is God’s Word.
The Bible was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the ultimate source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Although culture changes, the Word of God does not. We will continue to derive our beliefs and doctrine from the Bible alone.
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
-2 Timothy 3:16-17
We believe that salvation is God’s FREE GIFT to us, but we must accept it.
We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by faith in Jesus Christ and God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty.
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
-Ephesians 2:8-9
REAL FAITH is more than a mental exercise. A real faith response looks like:
We believe the church is a group people following Jesus together in community.
Every believer is called to join together with a local church to experience community, to encourage one another, to be led into a deeper relationship with God, and to partner with the church to accomplish the God-given mission of reaching the entire world with the love of Jesus.
And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
-Acts 2:42
We believe that every Christian is a disciple of Jesus.
A disciple is someone who is:
You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
-Ephesians 4:22-24
We believe people will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or exist eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation.
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.
-John 3:36
